Dr Matthew Williams

Matthew is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Information Society at the School of Social Sciences, Cardiff University. His main research areas are cyber crime, digital & online qualitative methodology, and policing, diversity & equal opportunities. He has recently published Virtually Criminal: Crime, Deviance and Regulation Online (Routledge, 2006) which was short-listed for the British Sociological Association’s Philip Abrams Memorial Book Prize and was nominated for the British Society of Criminology Annual Book Prize. He has also published widely in the area of internet governance and regulation and currently sits on the academic steering group of the Wales e-crime initiative. He is currently writing his second book ‘Understanding Cybercrime’ and is in the process of embarking further research within Virtual Worlds.
