Jim Terkeurst

Jim Terkeurst is currently the Director of the Institute of Digital Innovation at the University of Teesside. With a background in media production and academia, Jim is interested in interactive environments (including games) and their interrelationsh ips with culture, society and innovation.

A graduate in Applied Art from Grays School of Art, and History of Art from St Andrews University, joined University of Abertay in 2002 and was appointed as Divisional Leader in 2004.

Practice and theory based research interests include the social and performative functions of interactive spaces. Recent projects include presentation and performance of ‘Lifelines’ interactive drama at San Francisco Performance Cinema Symposium, produ ction of ‘Gigajig’ a motion capture based dance performance with Dundee Rep Theatre and ‘Journey through the Centre of the Earth’ animation and installation at Our Dynamic Earth visitor centre.

Currently working on an innovative web development project in collaboration with BSkyB and researching new forms of creative practice in the production and consumption of web-based user generated content.
