BERR-OECD 2009
the Virtual Policy Network organized themes and speakers for a a workshop on 11 March 2009 convened by the UK Government’s Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) with OECD’s Committee for Information, Computer and Communications Policy (ICCP). The workshop examined the following themes:
- How can virtual worlds contribute to innovation, to transformation of business, government and public services and to increasing transparency, improving innovative services delivery, and creating employment?
- Should public policy frameworks be adapted to support governments, citizens, and businesses using virtual worlds to improve their performance? If so how?
Speakers included Mr Tom Watson MP (UK Minister for Digital Engagement).

Wunsch-Vincent
Dr Sacha Wunsch-Vincent
Sacha Wunsch-Vincent is economist at the Science, Technology and Industry Directorate of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris. Previously, he was a Swiss National Science Fellow at the Berkeley Centre for Law & Technology (University of California) and a Visiting Fellow at the Institute for International Economics, in Washington, D.C. He has published and worked on newer generation trade and technology issues and has served as a consultant with a number of institutions such as the World Economic Forum, Hewlett Packard, the UN ICT Task Force, and the World Bank. He teaches international trade at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences-Po) and at the World Bank Institute. Sacha holds a Masters of International Economics (MERIT, University of Maastricht) and a PhD in Economics (University of St. Gallen).
